PTO is Temple Avodah's Parent/Teacher Organization
PTO is an arm of Temple Avodah dedicated to providing activities for the children of our Religious School.
The PTO works in conjunction with the Religious School to provide assistance, crafts, and food for holiday related activities for the students for Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot, Chanukah, Purim and Passover.
We organize the special "candle light" service at our Yom Kippur services. We assist the school in making decorations for the Sukkah and decorate the Sukkah. We host Chanukah and Purim parties for all Temple children. We are pleased to present PTO gifts to Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrants, as well as assist them in Mitzvah opportunities.
See "Upcoming PTO Events", below, as well as the pictures of children enjoying PTO sponsored events.
PTO dues are a modest $15 per family. Weekly candy sales at the Hebrew school also supplement PTO activities. In order to raise money to accomplish our programming, the PTO holds several fundraising events throughout the year, including the Chanukah book fair. This year we will NOT be sponsoring a Passover Candy sale. We will be seeking Parent suggestions for future fund raising ideas.
See "Raising Funds for the PTO", below.
Throughout the year, we also sponsor many Mitzvah Projects that help get our children involved in community service. It is never too early to teach our core values of helping our neighbors and the wider world.
See "PTO Mitzvah Projects", below.
We are always looking for new people to become involved and help us bring smiles to our children's faces! We are always seeking new ideas and new involvement. You may email PTO for more details about any PTO event, joining PTO, becoming a part of the PTO Board, or even to just lend a suggestion or helping hand at any PTO event.
The PTO Board meets the second Monday of every month in the Temple Youth Lounge at 7:30pm. The agenda will be posted in the Temple Calendar. Parents, teachers and all congregants are welcome! Exception: September 14 and October 4 replace regularly scheduled meetings!
