Temple Avodah is the center of Reform Judaism in Oceanside and the surrounding communities. Our congregants come from all over the South Shore of Long Island including Oceanside, Freeport, Baldwin, East Rockaway, Rockville Centre, Lynbrook, Island Park, Hewlett, Woodmere, Long Beach and all surrounding areas. For those seeking a meaningful Jewish experience at a South Shore Reform Temple, Temple Avodah is an outstanding choice. Our Temple is a beit t'fillah (house of worship), beit midrash (house of study), and beit knesset (house of assembly). We are an inclusive congregation, welcoming traditional and non-traditional families, couples and individuals with varied lifestyles. However you define your family, we welcome you to ours. We value the joy of prayer, study and service. Temple Avodah is a place to connect with God, celebrate life cycle events, receive comfort in times of need, and develop lasting friendships and memories. We recognize Jewish education is a lifelong process that begins with our religious school and continues through our adult education programs. Many of our congregants were severely impacted by Sandy and are still struggling with the recovery. There are too many stories to tell. Temple Avodah has been there for them. The full impact of the disaster continues to be felt in individual homes and families. The Temple leadership will still search for ways to help those congregants in need.
Temple Avodah supports same-sex marriages as was recently confirmed by the State of New York. We sincerely hope that the passage of this bill provides the opportunity for all humanity to enjoy equal rights and God-given happiness. Temple Avodah lives by a simple premise…“However you define your family we welcome you to ours.”
